Faith Formation opportunities
Kingdom Builders – Children’s Liturgy of the Word (Pre K-Grade 5)
To make Sunday Mass a more positive and meaningful experience for child, we provide a “Word” experience for children that is developmentally and spiritually appropriate. Children come directly to the auditorium at the 9:00 a.m. Mass and return at the Offertory. Focus is generally on the first reading and the Gospel. This is followed by a child-oriented reflection (click here to download registration form and here for the schedule).
Wednesday evening opportunities (during One Church)
Treasure Island (Pre K – Grade 2)
The four and five year olds have an experience of Godly Play that is based on scripture. With hands on materials and class activities, children explore major scripture stories and events of our Tradition. 1st and 2nd grade students focus more on the sacraments.
Young Church (Grades 3-5)
Students have the opportunity to learn more about the Creeds of the Church as well as celebrate the liturgical year. The last half hour is for liturgical education and participation.
Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist (2nd grade)
These classes are taught both in St. Luke School and on Sunday mornings for all students attending other schools. We use Go, Seek, Find programs for each sacrament. Children receive a full Children’s Bible to break open Scripture during each session. At a glance, the children reflect on the sacrament, explore classroom activities as well as complete a home page for each session.
